Dispenser – Mbale

C-Care, a reputable healthcare organisation with facilities in Uganda, Mauritius, and Madagascar, is looking for a Dispenser to join its Mbale branch on a part-time basis. This role is central to safe pharmaceutical care: you will prepare and dispense medications with precision, counsel patients effectively, and uphold the stock management and documentation standards that keep the pharmacy running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, label, and dispense drugs accurately against valid prescriptions, following national guidelines and C-Care procedures
• Assess prescriptions and drug orders from patients and clinical staff, verifying compliance with legal requirements
• Cross-check every dispensed item against the prescription and consult the prescribing doctor where there is any question about dosage, appropriateness, or drug interactions
• Counsel patients on their treatments clearly and pass relevant information to clinical colleagues
• Conduct routine stock checks across wards, pharmacy cages, and storage areas to prevent stockouts and remove expired items
• Monitor and record refrigerator temperatures to maintain cold-chain integrity for temperature-sensitive medications
• Keep accurate records of all prescriptions and stock movements using stock cards and approved systems
• Dispose of expired and unused pharmaceutical materials in line with C-Care standard operating procedures
• Participate in unit assessments and internal quality audits

Requirements

• Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution
• Current registration with the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council
• At least one year of dispensing experience
• Professional demeanour with strong communication and empathy skills
• Competent in stock management, data entry, and pharmaceutical documentation
