IT Officer

A private company running Uro Care Hospital in Nansana, Kampala, is hiring an IT Officer. You will support staff in every department, look after the hospital management and patient records systems, and keep technology problems from disrupting clinical and administrative services.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain computers, printers, scanners and other IT equipment across the hospital.
• Manage and troubleshoot the network, internet, Wi-Fi and telephone systems.
• Support the hospital management system, electronic medical records and billing software.
• Give day-to-day technical support to clinical and administrative staff and resolve issues promptly.
• Create and manage user accounts, passwords and access rights in line with hospital policy.
• Run regular data backups and test recovery.
• Protect systems against viruses, malware and unauthorised access, and apply security updates.
• Maintain the hospital website, email accounts and online services.
• Keep an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment, software licences and service contracts, and liaise with vendors.
• Train staff on correct and secure use of hospital systems, and keep patient information confidential.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in IT support or systems administration.
• Experience with hospital management systems or electronic medical records is an added advantage.
• Professional certification such as CCNA, CompTIA A+/Network+ or Microsoft is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office, networking (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi), hardware troubleshooting, data backup and information security.
• Basic website and email administration (cPanel or similar).
• Reliability, integrity, ability to work independently and under pressure, and willingness to be on call for urgent issues, including evenings and weekends.
