Senior Information Systems Officer

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Uganda’s principal agency for regulating and coordinating environmental matters, is recruiting a Senior Information Systems Officer in Kampala. The post supports a robust Environment Information Management System for the Authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and implementation of work plans, budgets and timely divisional reports.
• Initiate, acquire and maintain environment information management systems and keep data and systems secure.
• Oversee NEMA software programming and application development for collecting and sharing information.
• Support the compilation of Uganda’s State of Environment Reports and promote applied research and innovation.
• Supervise and appraise staff, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• An honours bachelor’s degree in information systems or geographical information systems development and management.
• A master’s degree in environment and natural resources management, GIS and remote sensing, or a related field.
• A professional certification in information systems development and management.
• At least three years of relevant experience in environment information systems development and management.
• Strong analytical, planning, leadership, communication, risk management and knowledge management skills, and high integrity.
