Head Chef – Luuka

Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is recruiting a talented and passionate Head Chef on behalf of Akampamani Sanctuary, a culturally grounded and intentionally intimate hospitality destination located in Bukooma, Luuka District, in the heart of Busoga. Akampamani offers guests a calm, restorative experience grounded in the region’s cultural richness, landscapes, and heritage. Food at the sanctuary is central to this philosophy — simple, locally sourced, freshly prepared, and rooted in Ugandan tradition. The Head Chef will have the unique opportunity to shape the culinary identity of the sanctuary ahead of its July 2026 soft launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a simple, seasonal menu rooted in local ingredients, incorporating Busoga and Ugandan dishes in a refined yet authentic style
• Ensure all meals are freshly prepared, balanced, and suited to a calm, peaceful dining environment
• Oversee all kitchen operations including food preparation, hygiene, cleanliness, and storage management
• Maintain rigorous food safety and sanitation standards at all times
• Coordinate meal service timing in line with guest schedules and activities
• Accommodate guests’ dietary requirements and deliver a personalized dining experience
• Source ingredients locally by building relationships with farmers, markets, and community suppliers
• Train and supervise kitchen assistants as the team grows
• Set up kitchen systems, workflows, and procurement processes ahead of the July 2026 soft launch
• Test menu items, refine recipes, and support overall opening readiness

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a chef or cook
• Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques, including baking and pastry
• Hands-on experience with a variety of professional kitchen equipment
• Culinary school diploma or equivalent training is preferred
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
• Calm, organized, and reliable working style suited to a quality-focused, low-volume kitchen
• Genuine appreciation for local Ugandan cuisine and ingredients
